Natural Choices

Spiritual guidance may take different forms depending on one's needs. Traditional spiritual direction may take the form of meeting to share the person's prayer life and spiritual struggles. The traditional Irish Celtic form is Anam Cara--or Soul Friend--which is a friendship focused on supporting a person on the Soul's Path to Oneness (God or Spirit or Mystery...).  Deep listening characterizes Companionship. This is different from counselling or psychotherapy.  The Guide  may offer instruction in spiritual practices such as meditation, reading from spiritual texts or one of many other practices. It is important to help people let go of the idea of separateness; one's life is not physical or mental or emotional or spiritual, it is a whole. It is intended to be a whole but often times is not. This is why people seek help.

For those seeking to mark a period of growth and change, help may be offered to bring a sense of ritual or ceremony. For those who are members of a tradition, many of these are already provided and meaningful. For the seekers outside of a tradition, some guidance may be welcomed.

Spiritual Guidance and Companionship

This the final level of Usui Reiki. It is the master level. You receive a Reiki Master*/Teacher designation. It is recommended that you practice at the Reiki 2 level for months/years before taking this level. For most Reiki Practitioners, Level 2 is sufficient. If you decide to seek out this level, there are new symbols and techniques. The step-by-step procedures for performing attunements are also in this level. We go into more depth concerning the auric field, chakras, meridians and spirit guides. You are guided to develop your intuitive skills.

This is a companion course to Reiki I and Reiki II.

*While the term ‘Master’ is in common usage, it carries some negative connotations. I prefer the term ‘Adept’.

Reiki III

The second level of Reiki reviews the five principles of Reiki and concepts of ki/chi/prana. It teaches meditative practices for therapists preparing for treating with Reiki, the three second-level Reiki symbols, and how to treat animals. In this one-day workshop, you will be attuned to the second level of Reiki, and participate in distance, group, and timeline Reiki sessions. You will receive a Reiki level 2 workbook pdf prior to the class, and a certificate of completion once you've finished.



This is a companion course to Reiki Level 1 and Reiki Level 3.

Reiki II

The first level of Reiki teaches the five principles of Reiki, the history and lineage of Usui Reiki as it has been handed down to Monica, concepts of ki/chi/prana, and how to treat yourself, friends, and family. In this one-day workshop, you will be attuned to the first level of Reiki, participate in a group Reiki session, and both give and receive one-on-one treatments. You will receive a Reiki level 1 workbook pdf prior to the class, and a certificate of completion once you've finished.


This is a companion course to Reiki Level 2 and Reiki Level 3.

Reiki I

A distance Reiki treatment is usually very quiet and calming. You receive your treatment at home. You can sit comfortable or lie down with pillows and blanket for comfort. You can lie on your back  or side. I work from my home. I use a Reiki bear to represent you. My hands are placed very lightly on the bear. I send the Reiki through our shared energetic connection. I treat the entire body with more time if it is a painful or sensitive area. Places that are flowing well with ki have a shorter placement, and areas of blockage have longer. You may feel heat, coolness, waves, release of tense muscles, decrease in pain; sometimes you may feel emotions come and go, see colours in your imagination, have memories float up. There is no right way to feel, just YOUR way. Some people fall asleep or go into a light doze. You will switch from sympathetic nervous system firing (fight, flight, freeze) to parasympathetic nervous system firing (rest, digest). 

Reiki often induces a deep feeling of relaxation and peace. It is important to remember that you are doing your own healing. I am supporting you by directing ki where needed. I provide some extra water and the power washer, you get the car to sparkle.

Distance Reiki

This is a two day course focused on expanding the concepts and practices of self care and stress management. We will review the physiology of stress including autonomic nervous system and polyvagal theory. We will discuss general principles of stress management for clients. We will discuss the therapeutic and ethical rationale for self care. We will discuss assessment of stress for clients. We will create individualized stress management plans addressing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. Practical applications will be enjoyed. We will apply the modalities to ensure our comfort in recommending them. Examples of modalities are creative visualization, mudras, meridian stretching, and reflective journaling. This is a great opportunity to try new things and expand your repertoire for self care /stress management options for your clients.

The emotional release implications of fascial treatments will be explored.
